Do you struggle with feeling insignificant?
Perhaps you've made serious mistakes in your past. Or perhaps you feel like an outsider in a world that won't accept you. Maybe you are introverted and feel like no one sees or hears you. Insignificance is a problem for women across the spectrum — it doesn't discriminate based on wealth or nationality or morality.
This 6-lesson study will examine the lives of the five women named in Jesus' genealogy as outlined in Matthew 1: Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, and Mary. All five women were unlikely to be included in the ancestry of the Son of God, but for uniquely different reasons.
As you read through their stories, you'll see glimpses of yourself in both their struggles and victories. More importantly, you'll discover how God uses unlikely people for His purposes and be encouraged that He can use you, too! No matter your past, your story isn't over yet. Your life CAN be significant if you're willing to be used by God.

Our women’s ministry group is loving Unlikely! The study presents a fresh perspective on the women of Jesus’ genealogy and offers a deeper glimpse into how these unlikely women played an instrumental role in God’s big picture plan. We have found the study to be engaging and insightful but not overly time consuming. The questions are thought provoking and the videos help to tie all the session content together. I would highly recommend!
Our women's Bible study group is currently going through Unlikely together. It was our first experience with a book by Jennifer Hicks and we will definitely be choosing another book soon!
This is a great study for a small group. Great historical background, insights, and application questions on a very relevant topic for women. I’m using it for lesson planning. We made it optional for the group members to buy since we’re showing the videos in class and a lot is repeated in the videos.
We just finished this study with our ladies group at church and I loved the things that Jennifer highlighted and expanded on from these familiar stories. It's encouraging to see how God used ordinary and broken women. May we be open to his leading in our own lives and not let the past or present hold us back!
Our group just finished this study and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of interesting discussions each week which led me to thoughtful thinking and praying when I got home.
